2014 looks set to be an exciting year in terms of fashion, with some hot new trends about to hit the streets.
According to Bustle, some of the ones to look out for include:
1. Strategic transparency
Using a fusion of netting and embroidery, designers such as Nina Ricci are subtly showing off some skin.
2. Sailor chic
The nautical theme will be dropping anchor in 2014, with navy suits and white and navy striped dresses.
3. Heartland designs
Take the most important historical parts of a country and bring it to life in a new, modern way is a trend many designers including Karl Lagerfeld are embracing. His pre-fall collection effortlessly displayed the best of Americana with lush fabrics and tailoring unique to Chanel.
4. Optical illusion prints
Think avant-garde prints that bring art to life on fabric and that’s what you have with this mesmerising new trend. Christian Dior stunned audience members with a number of hypnotic, metallic dresses on the Celine Spring Runway.
5. Grey
Having captivated audiences in the literature world, fifty shades of grey has entered the fashion world to become the next hottest trend, especially when adapted in a silvery, metallic hue. Kate Sullivan from clothing store Oxford Shop commented, “Grey is making a comeback as a colour to wear. It’s a lot softer hue than black, yet still adds a touch of elegance to an outfit.”
Once considered a bit boring, grey is the year’s hottest colour and may just be the new black!
